After employee termination, the employee will no longer have access to your employer benefits. During a period of unemployment, terminated employees have the option to purchase unemployment insurance benefits coverage aka COBRA.
The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) of 1985 is a law passed by the U.S. Congress that mandates an insurance program that gives some employees the ability to continue health insurance coverage after leaving employment.
